Welcome Back, Highlanders!
There are three full weeks before the Winter Break - let's make every minute count! Let's also keep in mind that routine should be routine no matter the season. Many of our students may be experiencing some heightened stress over the next month - be firm and fair, but compassionate and understanding. It's a lot to ask, I know, but you are the constant most reliable adult for some of our students. They deserve to be loved and held to high behavior and learning expectations.
Update on Report Cards
Thanks for getting them done before the Thanksgiving Break. Susan and I have been diligently reading and making our own comments - it's been a worthwhile way to spend our time. Thanks for all your hard work! Final copies will be run at the earliest, Tuesday, and at the latest, Wednesday. Please send the report cards home with students on Thursday, Dec. 4.
A School Messenger phone message will go out to parents letting them know of the report card delay on Monday or Tuesday.
Learning Targets Target Learning
It's just plain mean to not tell kids what to pay attention to during the lesson. Show them what you want them to learn by pointing out the Learning Targets hanging in your room, and then tell them why they need to learn it. Better yet, let them tell you!

"The hardest arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings." Eric Hoffer
If not today, some day, your students will count you among their blessings - as evidenced by the email Susan received just before the long weekend from one of her former students.
Happy December 1st! Make the week matter - no matter what it takes.
