SARGs and Student Learning Plans - Before Oct. 9, ITC and Bob Silverman in the Assessment Office are asking that you make sure you can access the SARGs website. More specifically, make sure you can access the SLP section - but please do not begin an SLP document. Your user name and passcode are the same as Novel. Classroom Budgets vs Honor System
In order to maintain a steady supply of supplies we've all got to follow the same procedures. Try to plan ahead and give your order to Suzanne. If your need for materials is immediate, no problem, just take the whole package, and then document it on a supply list. Please remember that the Honor System is just that - honor. Since school began, 28 packages or boxes (totaling $81.13) have been opened and partially emptied in the supply room. This kind of use will cost everyone in the long run - please be courteous.

Do They Know?
It takes almost no time to let 'em in on the secret of learning.

Who you ask? Your students!

The secret? To know what to pay attention to in each lesson. Be sure to tell your students what you want them to learn every day, and then remind them throughout the day. You'll be surprised at what your students will say over time about what they are supposed to learn.

Also - what activities are you asking your students to do throughout the day? Are they meaningful and tied to learning objectives? Are they learning focused or busy work? Do they apply to 'real world' and age appropriate? A great article about learning objectives is entitled "The Crayola Curriculum". It identified that students spent more time in school coloring than they did working on reading and math. Look at your practice. Are the activities about improving students academically or are they simply engaging students in an activity. Now, I don't want you to worry about if an administrator walks into your room and we see students coloring! We simply want you to reflect on assignments given to students. Where is the majority of the focus - coloring or learning?
