An incident today reminded me that an emergency card needs to be completed by all staff. If you have not completed a goldenrod colored staff emergency card, please do so by Friday, Oct. 10, 2008. If you have one on file, please make sure it's updated with the most current information.
Learning Targets Target Learning
Many of you are posting your learning targets for Reading and Math daily. Thank you! Great Job! As you probably know, research has shown over and over again that when students know what they are supposed to learn, they are more likely to learn it and retain it. If you haven't started posting yet, do do this week. You'll be amazed at what your students will remember if they see the target, hear the target, and learn the target.
HEAT is HOT!
The HEAT Team recently met to go over a new document for collecting data on students prior to a formal HEAT referral. At this point, members are reviewing the document and making changes/suggestions. We will be meeting on Friday, October 17th at 8:00am to finalize this document. Once we have the final version, Rebecca and I will meet with grade level teams to share the process. Please be patient…it takes time and the coordination of many schedules to make sure we have the best possible process to share with you! Remember, HEAT is HOT!!!
United Way Campaign
This very important initiative provides much needed community services for our families and children. The Puyallup School District leads the way in its annual United Way contributions when compared to other Pierce County Districts. I hope that you will, again, generously contribute to this very worthy effort. The United Way Campaign will begin in the next few weeks and will end before the Thanksgiving holiday.
Parent/Teacher Conferencing
It's right around the corner! We'll be scheduling a Family Scheduling event soon. More info to follow!
