Jan 5 to Jan 9

Returning to Routine and Procedures
As you plan your lessons for this first week back to school remember to be sensitive to all your students. For some, the Winter Break was a chance to make wonderful memories. But for too many, the break from school may have been stressful. Some ideas to keep in mind:
  • Not every family celebrates the holidays the same - be thoughtful in the journaling and writing activities you invite students to do - stick to common experiences like the snow or looking to the future in the New Year.
  • Make no assumptions about what students may or may not remember about your classroom procedures, expectations, and responsibilities. Time spent early this week reviewing what you want them to do will pay off in dividends.
  • Each trimester every teacher should teach/review Hunt's Behavior Management Plan - a flier will be in your box.
You are an important person in each of your student's lives. They are looking to you for a cheerful welcome, genuine encouragement, and reasonable boundaries. How lucky your students are to call you 'Teacher,' and how lucky we are to be colleagues together.
