Learning Targets Target Learning
How is your classroom consistency? Can your students count on knowing what they are learning and why? For every lesson make it easy for your students - tell them, show them, and remind them what they are learning.

Writer's Workshop Pro Dev - Feb 4 @ Woodland 1:30-3:30
We will be in the gym to start, for about 25 minutes for some whole group work, and then each school will group smaller into K-2 and 3-6. At the end we will come back for a brief share-out/feedback form for approx. 15 min. Please bring your own writing tool, snack, and/or beverage.

Winter Writing Prompts - a reprint from last week
February is here- and so are Winter writing prompts. Time has been scheduled into Hunt's ProDev on the February 11 (Collaboration/Teaming LIC Wednesday). As you prepare your materials and consider your grade level prompt, so must you consider the goal of every assessment - have the students learned what we wanted them to and are they able to express it? As you know, writing is developmental - but equally important, writing is personal. Your student writing samples should be genuinely reflective of student work. It's less than valid or reliable to encourage your students to use a template or directed format in a writing assessment. Please follow the Hunt protocol established in years past to conduct this trimester's writing prompt. Refer to your writing binder and if you have any questions - see Rebecca, Susan, or anyone on the Writing Committee.

Cultural Competence & Learning
With Valentine's Day just around the corner, a little reminder may be in order. Please consider your plans for the week of Valentine's Day. Of course, time spent in the historical significance may be appropriate for your class, but be careful about celebrating it in a way that may inadvertantly exclude one or more of your students. If you have any questions, please see Rebecca or Susan.
