Are your targets written and presented to students in 1st person? There's no better way to help students take ownership for their learning than to have them state exactly what they will learn that day.
- Example: Today I will explain in my reading journal how I am alike and different from the main character in (title of story).
- Example: Today I will solve a math problem using two different strategies to explain my work.

REACH/SEED - Honoring Cultures Diversity Celebration
The displays that are up LOOK GREAT! Well done! Hunt will be submitting 15-20 pieces of art and/or writing for the Spring Fair Honoring Cultures display. If you believe a particular selection will be good for one of your students, please let Susan or Rebecca know. Each piece of work will need to be mounted on tagboard - if you're willing to help with this task, please see Rebecca or Susan.
March Conferencing
Avoid surprises - plan on conferencing with every child's parent if there are progress concerns. Intermediate students who have SLPs, any student who is not making adequate progress, or students with at-risk behaviors should be scheduled for Spring Conferences. - March 18 Eval/Conferencing
- March 25 Eval/Conferencing
Please give a copy of your conferencing schedule to Kellie by Friday, March 6.

- March 13 Principal Review and Comment on Report Cards
- March 18 TAC Closes for data input & final copy report cards printed

Keeping It Positive At School
It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor even the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change." ~Charles Darwin
Let's be positively responsive to the change that lies before us. The work ahead won't get done if we lose sight of the target - LEARNING. The weeks ahead will reveal themselves soon enough. In the meantime - stay present for the good of the students you teach right now. Stay positive - even when the news around you is daunting. And look out for each other - this job is all about building relationships and caring for one another.
