March 9 to March 13

Learning Targets Target Learning

"Students who can identify what they are learning significantly outscore those who cannot." Robert Marzano
Have you reviewed your posted Learning Targets? Are they:
  • focused on that day's learning?
    "Today..."

  • written using kid friendly words?
    "...I will..."

  • measureable?
"...write 5 complete sentences using vocabulary words from the Open Court story."

Writing Workshop - OSPI Modules
Many of you have already begun incorporating the idea shared at our last workshops. As we prepare for next year and how to help students improving their writing skills - give at least one of the pre-writing strategies a try. Patti Nance sent the following links in her email - be sure to bookmark them in you online 'favorites' or access them from our Blog in the Websites to Notice Section.

Report Cards - Due March 13
Susan and Rebecca will be reviewing the report cards again this trimester. We'll make brief comments regarding attendance, office referrals, celebrations, and effort toward improvement. If you have a specific comment you wish to be made by one of us, just let us know before March 13.

Remember, your comments are helpful to parents and future teachers if they contain the most recent data. Winter data is available on SARGS . If you need a PDF version or paper copy go to the website or see Rebecca or Susan. Comments should start positive, state progress using data, set an improvement for the final trimester, and end positive.

Keep these dates in mind as you prepare your report cards:

  • March 13 - Administrators Review Report Cards

  • March 18 - Final copies printed by Kellie

  • March 19 - Report Cards Home - please include other items in the report cards envelops like Orchestra/Band, SpEd Progress Reports, and etc.

Keepin' It Positive
Taking care of each other is going to be the best way to 'weather' the storms-of-the-unknown. Remember that each of us will feel differently as the events of budget updates, staffing changes, and student placements roll out.
