For the work you did this year becoming familiar with Learning Targets and making them work in your instructional practices - your students thank you. We'll continue this Best Practice into next year. Some of our work will be to examine how each of you make Learning Targets 'real' for your students.
Field Day - Tuesday, June 16 - Aloha Theme
The plans are coming together! It's going to be a GREAT day - but not without Y-O-U! Wear your favorite (and appropriate) Aloha themed shirt to celebrate the occasion. Here are some important details:
- Supervision - During your grade level's Field Day - you need to be out and about helping supervise and oversee kids. Work out a schedule with your team for breaks as needed. Please be courteous to your colleagues and do your part.
- Recess - No recesses on Field Day.
- Inflatable - See the schedule for use of the Inflatable - every grade has an assigned time.
- Volunteers - Parent volunteers must be on our approved list of volunteers before we can accept their help. If you have an interested parent who is not current with their volunteer status, see Suzanne Buckner - we'll do our best to get them cleared.
- Guests - Please, no guests or special visitors this week.

Staff Meeting - Wednesday, June 17 - 8:00am
It won't be 'Good-bye' - it will be 'See You Again Soon'. Join us in honoring our staff members leaving Hunt for new adventures in the 09-10 school year. Starbucks and Great Harvest Bread Company will be providing breakfast treats. There will be time to share a good word or two about your colleagues.
Awards Assembly - Thursday, June 18 - 9:30 for Grades 3-6
This will be a time to celebrate the accomplishments of Hunt students. An outline of the program will be placed in boxes for your information. Parents should have been contacted by now by the person most closely connected to the award.
Last Day of 08-09 - Friday, June 19 - 12:00 Dismissal
Students will be released at 12pm. Please be mindful of this super busy event. Kids can not be released before 12pm unless they are called by the office and picked up by a parent or guardian.
09-10 Staffing and Classroom Assignments
It's a weird thing to be ending one school year and preparing for the next - especially in times like these. Know that we are mindful of the mixed emotions that can leave one feeling left out, stuck in the middle, or relieved - and maybe all at the same time. With that in mind, it's always our goal to share the latest information with you to thwart (good word, huh?) any untrue speculation or rumors. Our FTE staffing is still the same as presented earlier (Plan I Class Placement Assignments) and IVT teachers have been placed. We are welcoming the following PSD staff:
- Debbie Hanson - 1st grade
- Jennifer Niehaus - 1st grade
- Betsy Fletcher - 3/4 Combination
- PM Kinder - awaiting placement news
- 6th Grade - awaiting placement news
As for classroom assignments, those will be finalized this week. Assume you are staying in the same room until further notice. Anyone who needs to move because of program changes within the building will be spoken with individually. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding as we process through this important detail.
On A Personal Note
I never liked that last day of school or week - mostly because I LOVED my teachers and the routine of school. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED summer break, too. The expectation was almost more than a kid could take - I loved riding my bike up to the school to see if the class lists were posted on the office window - even in July when I knew they wouldn't be, yet!
I still don't like the last day of school - I don't dread it, though. I know another year will begin again in late August. As for this year, I enjoyed seeing our Hunt kids every day. I looked forward to spending days with you and seeing your GREAT work move kids closer to their potential. Please know that no matter the number of 'Agree to Disagrees' we may have had to balance this year, you are very much appreciated and adored for the gifts and talents you bring to Hunt.
