Week of Sept 5 to Sept 9 - Inspiring No Excuses!

Word On The Street
Want it fast? Read the Yellow Italics!

Clocks
We know - they are off.  I saw Fred at Costco this weekend - he's on it!

Staffing Updates
  • Stacy Neuman - subbing for open grade 2 position in room 10
  • Amy Gray - she's back!  Teaching the PM Session of Kindergarten
  • PE - two PE sessions have been transferred to a Tuesday/Friday schedule - stay tuned for updates
  • Combination Classroom - still waiting on the final word
Staffing and Class Sizes
Our accuracy in counting students is dependent on staffing and class sizes. Two critical count days are Day 4 and Day 10.  Sara and Colleen have done an excellent job keeping our electronic records 100% clean and updated.  Day 4 is Sept 7, and Day 10 is Sept 15.  If you have students who have not shown up by Wednesday, please confirm their enrollment with Sara.

Overload Paras - schedules were established last week.  They are 'good' through Day 4 (Sept 7).  We'll modify and adjust to provided the para support needed.  Here's another way to demonstrated patience last week!

Know that 'Down Town' is following every school's numbers with a magnifying glass - they WANT to give us what we know we NEED, however there is budget we must live within.  Be patient and smile!

Classroom Walk-Through Rounds
Each week, Lisa and I will make it a priority to be in classrooms.  Classroom Rounds (visits) are a professional practice that has yielded fantastic results in many schools across the country.  This week, in addition to connecting with specific kids, Lisa and I will be looking for the ways in which you have displayed the following:

1.  Respect Character Trait Poster
2.  Hunt Staff Commitment Handout
3.  Cultural Competency Poster (if you need one, please let us know)
4.  Learning Targets for Reading and Math

Every Monday Matters
True confession - last week was hard for me to live INSPIRED.  Thank you for your grace and understanding when I needed a minute to pull myself together.  Never has it been more clear how much each of you means to me - this IS a relationship profession.  YOU matter - to me, to your colleagues, to the community, and especially to the students you teach!  In the words of Art Turock (see the quote above) we are in the business of inventing opportunities for students that they do not even know exist! It WILL be a GREAT week!
