Instructional Framework 101: IF 101
Domain 3: Instruction - the heart of the frameworkComponent d: Using Assessment in Instruction
Element: Assessment Criteria
Application: How are you communicating the expected learning? How are you assessing before, during, and after each lesson to determine student understanding? Do your Learning Targets target what you want your students to know and be able to do?
Danielson Quote: Rather than signal the end of instruction, it (assessment) has become incorporated as an integral part of instruction. (from Enhancing Professional Practice, p.86)

Conference & Report Cards - Repeat
A delicate balance rests on your shoulders – how are you planning to capture the strengths that each child has and address the areas of needed improvement…without leaving parents and students feeling isolated, unworthy, and undervalued? Let’s all remember, every child is someone’s baby – the best ‘thing’ they ever did. Use the data to deliver the message, and BE Gentle. BE Honest. BE Authentic. BE Compassionate. BE Genuine. BE YOU!

It’s a personal message this week. Wednesday’s Think PINK in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month hits pretty close to home. My mother-in-law was diagnosed last Friday. The lump is small, caught early, and the prognosis is hopeful. We all know someone…for them, BE Positively PINK.
