Oct 22 to Oct 26 BE An Ocean

Instructional Framework 101: IF 101

Domain 3: Instruction - the heart of the framework
Component c: Engaging Students In Learning
Element: Activities and assignments

Application: How do the activities and assignments you give student promote deeper knowledge and thinking? Does the task predict performance – in other words, are your students being cognitively challenged or simply busy with mechanical work?

Danielson Quote: What is required for student engagement is intellectual involvement with the content or active construction of understanding. (from Enhancing Professional Practice, p.83)

Dr. Yeomans Visits Hunt
On Tuesday, Oct 23, Dr. Yeomans will spend 2 hours in our building. There’s no doubt what he’s going to see – a highly committed staff, students engaged in learning, and the steam produced by over 650 Highlanders! The schedule looks like this:

1:45 Conference Meeting with Administration
(OH Yeah! We’re planning to brag about YOU!)

2:15 School Tour & Classroom Visits

3:15 Volunteer Staff Meeting with Dr. Yeomans (Certificated & Classified)
(all staff are invited to meet with Dr. Yeomans in the library)

Staff Meeting - Tues, Oct 23 @ 7:45am
Agenda: Celebrations, Site Team Highlights, AVID Strategy, AR Update, and Tech Tools

DIBELS Net & Progress Monitoring
Student Learning’s expectation is that Level 1 & Level 2 readers will be progress monitored. Grades 2-6 received books last week; grades K and 1 – there was a glitch. Your books are coming. The PM data is to be entered into the DIBELS Net Management System. This year at Hunt, data will be entered for teachers. Stay tuned for details on how to record the data. Every teacher has a user name and passcode set up in the system. If you are interested in learning more let Rebecca or Jen Thorson know you need your username and passcode.  Check out this link to the website www.dibels.net. It’s an easy and fairly intuitive site to navigate…

Conferences & Report Cards - Message Makers
A delicate balance rests on your shoulders – what are some ways you might capture the strengths that each child has and address the areas of needed improvement…without leaving parents and students feeling isolated, unworthy, or undervalued? Let’s all remember, every child is someone’s baby – the best ‘thing’ they ever did. Use the data to deliver the message, and BE Gentle. BE Honest. BE Authentic. BE Compassionate. BE Genuine. BE YOU!

BE 212: Every Monday Matters
Individuals who create an ocean – that’s YOU! This week, our new Superintendent will visit Hunt. He’s scheduled for Tuesday, but really…it doesn’t matter what day he comes – YOU are doing the good work every day! We have much to be proud of here at Hunt because of the individual and oceans of commitment you offer each student.  Know that you are appreciated!
