Teach It - Model It - Reward It
How are you planning to teach the expected behaviors? Plan on spending a GREAT deal of time teaching your students how to learn in your class. Before the end of this week, please teach every student in your class:
- how to stand in line - the morning playground line, lunch line, and other misc lines
- how to walk in the hallway - "2nd Tile with a Smile"
- how to ask for help in the classroom, in the office, and on the playground
- how to transition from one activity to another in your classroom and between specialist classes, and
- who to ask for help from if they are being picked on, bullied, or harassed
Stay tuned! Dates and times for grade level or classroom presentations from Rebecca and Susan will be presented soon. The purpose will be to ensure that every Hunt student hears the same message regarding Anti-Harassment and Bullying.
Dismissal Procedures
Remember bein' the new kid? Remember starting new some place and not knowing where to go? These first few days - please be very focused on how your students are getting home. With new walking routes, bus stops, and more parents picking up - this is one procedure we want to get 'right'.
Mandatory Trainings - if you think you're done...check again.
Some day we'll say - "Remember in the old days when we had to sit through an hour or two of PowerPoints and then sign that we had been trained on Bullying and Harassment, Issues of Child Abuse, and HIV/AIDS?" This year starts the beginning of that memory walk! ALL PSD employees will be fulfilling these training courses online.
Some of you have gotten right on top of this...but the final four trainings have been added - these are part of the requirement, too:
Health Emergencies: Life Threatening Allergies (10 min)
Health Emergencies: Diabetes Awareness (10 min)
Health Emergencies: Seizures (10 min)
Health Emergencies: Asthma Awareness (10 min)
Here's the scoop:
1. Go to http://puyallup.wa.safeschools.com/ - this is linked on the sidebar, too
2. Enter your employee id with the 'E' in front of the numbers (ex: E012345)
3. Click Login
4. Click Log Me In
5. Click on the section you want to watch - you don't have to do all sections in one sitting, you can split it up - but you must complete these trainings by Sept 30, 2009 - NO EXCEPTIONS.
